Rhône 2016: An exceptional vintage

“…one of the best vintages of the past few decades. Do not miss it.”

Matt Walls, Decanter Magazine

When it comes to the classic wine regions of France, vintage still matters and 2016 was an exceptional year in the Southern Rhône.  Names like Cairanne, Gigondas and Vacqueyras are worth getting to know, along with the more familiar Châteauneuf-du-Pape.  You’ll find some great new 2016s on our new spring wine bar lists, including a wonderful biodynamic Lirac, poetically named ‘Lunar Apogé‘; and a delicious Côtes du Rhone from our old friend Guillaume Gonnet.  Another way to take advantage of a great year is to buy ‘En Primeur‘, while the wines are still aging at the domaine.  The price you pay now excludes duty and VAT (payable when the wine is delivered to you for drinking).
